I discovered historical romances a few years ago through the gift of one of my favorite authors, Beverly Jenkins. As a romance writer and educator, I loved the fact that I could read one of my favorite genres and gain some additional knowledge about the contributions African Americans have made in history. So many people don’t realize that even during slavery and shortly thereafter there were many of us who held thriving businesses, acquired degrees, owned property, and were the trusted advisors to people of other races. I have recently begun the book “The Brightest Day: A Juneteenth Historical Romance Anthology”. Juneteenth (June 19th) is the day that the slaves celebration their emancipation from slavery. I am glad that four amazing authors (Lena Hart, Kianna Alexander, Piper Huguley, and Alyssa Cole with a foreword by Beverly Jenkins) have taken it upon themselves to craft wonderful stories around this auspicious occasion. I just started reading it this week and so far, I love it. Won’t you join me? Purchase your copy here.
