Happy Father’s Day to Mothers?

Fathers Day Mom2It’s no secret that there are probably millions of children on this earth with absentee fathers. They may be absent due to death, distance, bad relations between the parents, they’ve been found unfit to parent, or just plain old deadbeats. However, I do not agree with this new phenomenon to acknowledge women who have  played both roles on Father’s Day.  It has been brought to my attention that Hallmark has cards dedicated specifically to that. Why do I feel this way? I’m glad you asked. Men only get one day on the calendar that is specifically for them and this is Father’s Day. Valentine’s Day is about women, Christmas is about kids instead of Jesus, Veteran’s Day day honors anyone, regardless of gender, who served in the armed forces, Memorial Day honors those who died while serving in the armed forces, the Fourth of July is about the independence of our country, Thanksgiving is about family and gratitude and Halloween is about free candy. Therefore, allow fathers whoFathers Day Mom1 have been there for their children, provided for them financially, and given them lots of love and lessons they will cherish for a lifetime their day to shine uninterrupted by women and their kids who feel they need to be acknowledged too. Let them get their ties, socks, underwear and meals at the all-you-can-eat buffet bought with a coupon in peace.

Do I understand why these cards were created, yes. I know what it feels like to comb through racks of cards trying to find the one that doesn’t lie to your dad about how great a father he is. Perhaps these Father’s Day cards for mothers were created for people who wanted to be able to give someone a Father’s Day card. You have my sympathy but why not just double up on Mother’s Day because in all actuality if you have a great parent you don’t have to wait until a day on the calendar to show them. Anytime the mood hits you get them a card or gift, take them out to eat, and tell them how much you love them. In my opinion, the only people who should be handing Mommy this card is Caitlyn Jenner’s kids and others in the transgender community who have traded their testicles for  breasts. And they may not even want them. C’mon people, let the men have their day!

This is just one woman’s opinion. I welcome your thoughts.

P.S. They also have Mother’s Day cards for fathers but I felt this was enough for one discussion. (-:

  1. I am in agreement. Let the MEN have their day. We bash them when they do and when they don’t. Are we going to do a happy father’s day for grandparents who take on that role? Happy father’s day for ???? whoever takes on the role of father? Let them be special for one day PLEASE!
